Vehicles should not be older than 15 years in order for them to be imported in Uganda.
In Uganda, you can import both left and right-hand drive vehicles.
JEVIC has been appointed by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) to conduct Road Worthiness Inspection (RWI) for a used car in order to ensure that it meets certain quality standards.
The custom duty value is based on the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (G.A.T.T) valuation method. Taxation and Tariff are as follows.
Import Duty: 15% of dutiable value
Import Commission: 2% of dutiable Value
Withholding Tax: 6% dutiable Value
VAT: 17% of VAT value
Excise duty 10%
