Used Cars Import Rules and Regulations in the Senegal

Age Restriction

Used vehicles imported for private usage can be at most 8 years old from the year of manufacture. 

Commercial vehicles, with a minimum of seven seats, should not be more than 8 years old. 

Motor vehicles used for transporting goods should not exceed 3.5 tons, and vehicles over 10 years of age are not allowed.

Right-Hand Drive

Import of both Right-Hand and Left-Hand drive is permitted in the country. 

Inspection

All vehicles imported into Senegal should undergo pre-delivery inspection in their country of origin.

Import Duties and Taxes on Used Cars in Senegal

Tax duty rate depends on various factors such as the type of vehicle and its value. 

Vehicles older than 8 years can be imported with a tax of 58% of the CIF value.

To find the exact tax duty, consult with your local clearing agent. 

Used Car Import Documentation in Senegal

  • Bill of Lading (containing information about the engine’s size, chassis number, and weight of the vehicle) 

  • Commercial Invoice 

  • Import license 

  • Approval permit- required before its departure from origin port 

  • Original certificate of title and registrations Custom Prescriptions 

To prevent delays and lengthy customs procedures, a copy of title documentation and consignment information must be present one month before the arrival of the shipment.


Advance Payments in Senegal

From the reservation date, our customers have up to three working days to make the full payment. In case the payment is not received, the reservation will be canceled. The shipping procedure of the vehicle begins after receiving 70% or more of the payment. In case of partial deposit (70%), customers must pay the remaining amount within five working days after the ship has left the departure port. In case of failure to make the payment on time, the vehicle could be resold and your deposit confiscated to cover the damage caused. Please make sure to plan your finances accordingly before placing an order as SAT Japan will not be responsible for any complaints.
